Hey peeps!

It's been 15 days since I started my early morning workout regime (minus one day off last Saturday) and I am very happy that my BFF has started hers today! Even whatsapped me at 4:45am in the morning... well done BFF. Let's inspire each other hehehe.

I took a before photo on the 16th September and I took another one today before I start my workout just to see if I made any progress. Surprisingly, I can see my upper abs are starting to form! (Sikit saja laaaaa tapi sia happy nevertheless). I will post all transformation pics end of December because I believe if I keep up this routine till then I will achieve my personal goal.

This is probably old news to a lot of people but I just discovered why it's best to do the early morning workouts....my only reason doing this was just that's the only time I've got without interruption from my toddler. Apparently, there's a few other reasons why early morning exercises is good for you. Below article is directly copied from dailyhealthpost.com

1. A Consistent Workout

A big barrier to getting enough exercise is often the fact that it’s hard to fit it into a daily schedule. It’s extra hard if you have kids, work unpredictable hours, or have a somewhat spontaneous social life. If you commit to working out in the morning, however, you’re way less likely to have the excuse of things just popping up. Plus, you won’t be exhausted from a rough day at the office. In fact, people who work out in the morning have shown to stick to their exercise plans better than people who plan to exercise after work.

2. Better Cardiovascular Impact

One of the reasons you’re plugging in time on the treadmill or pounding the pavement is to improve your heart health, right? Well, working out in the morning can actually increase the impact that exercise has on your heart. Why? One of the ways that your body naturally wakes you up is by increasing levels of hormones like adrenaline, which causes your heart to beat faster. This means that you can eke out some extra cardiovascular benefits when you work out in the morning.
A caveat: if you have heart problems, talk to your doctor about working out in the morning, because research has shown that this extra heart activity can lead to chest pain and even heart attacks for people with underlying issues.

3. Brain Boosting Power

Exercise has been proven to increase mental focus and acuity for up to ten whole hours post-workout. If you’re squeezing in your exercise regimen after work, you’re not taking full advantage of those ten hours, since you’re likely sleeping for most of them. An A.M. workout means that both your brain and your body are in good shape all day.

4. Better Weight Loss

If you’re working out to shed some pounds, it looks like the morning is the optimal exercise time for you. An early trip to the gym has been shown to result in fewer food cravings throughout the day. Perhaps even better, working out in the morning means that your body will burn calories faster and more efficiently throughout the day. Combine that with nutritional foods and you have the perfect workout.

5. More Energy

Exercise releases feel-good compounds like endorphins that improve your mood and energy levels, an effect that can last well into the afternoon if you get your workout in early. Plus, exercising in the morning can help you sleep better than if you work out later in the evening, since you’re not getting that extra energy boost as you’re trying to settle in for the night.

Well that's it! Its probably sounds quite ridiculous to hit the gym at the wee hours of the morning in KK but hey there's a lot of YouTube videos that we can use as guidelines for home workout, just need to find one that suits us. I am no expert so I cannot suggest anything cos what works for me might not work for you.

No Excuse

I stumbled upon this quote while looking for other kind of quotes and it hit me really hard. This is soooo true in so many ways... I admit I have been delaying things that I want to do..and my excuse was I am a mom with no maid..I don't have time to do anything else than devote myself to care for my son and take care of the house and of course my husband.

One of the thing that I have delayed for a looong time is to enrol in a Postgrad degree program. Simply put, I am just LAZY but so often I used Ben as an excuse to not do things. Now I am gonna challenge myself and enrol in UNITAR MBA program in January 2015. Wish me luck!

Another thing is, getting fit and get rid of my belly fat. LOL. This is very important. Kihkihkih. I started simple workout for beginners last Tuesday cos it was public holiday and I admit it is so hard to workout with a toddler around because they will try their very best to distract you and the workout didn't go anywhere and I didn't get to enjoy doing it so I stopped. Nevertheless, I still want to do workouts at home for starter and then I figured the only time I can do my workout will be when everyone at home are still asleep (the most important, BEN!), so I started waking up at 4.45am and do some exercises for a good 30 minutes for now with a help on instructional workout videos. I admit, its hard ..I have body ache but it also makes me feel good about myself. It's some sort of self reminder that I can be disciplined enough to do what I want if I really make time for it. I may not achieve a Maria Kang body but as long as I'm happy with my own personal goal, that's good enough. (Won't post a picture for now cos I just started 3 days ago..there's nothing to see yet, belly still flabulous...lmao)

Thank God It's FRIDAY

Its Friday and its a yay day.

A special yay day for me because this is my last day of work before I go for a 2 weeks holiday and then on 29th April all will be back to normal and I start my working days again with a meeting. Don't worry it's not boring...I am on that age where I am so immune to meetings it doesn't bore me anymore. In fact to be honest, I love going to these meetings cos I get to know people I work with better. So, there you go..a positive way to look at your meeting schedules.

As for Asif, more meetings means more moolah coming in so he loves it. How I wish I have his job though...it's very rare to see people so passionate in what they do and he is one good example right in front of my very eyes. Someday, I will be on that stage. God willing.

But for now I am rest assured that I will be having a wonderful 2 weeks so I am so looking forward to that. See you in my next post.

How did I survive this

Time flies. That's really true. Today, Ben Ashton is 2 years 4 months old. How did I pull this off? How did I survive motherhood so far? Sometimes, I surprised myself. Lots of things have changed and people have changed as well.

Gone are the days where I can just sleep in on weekends or party till dawn on Friday nights. Even if I have options to do that these days, I will ALWAYS happily choose to be at home and wear the most ugly baju rumah and bun my hair Rutia style and be a couch potato while I watch Law & Order (SVU) recordings on Astro. Well, I don't have to impress my husband anymore when at home, do I? Especially when he was the one who started to look more like cavemen, first. So right now, it's just like a competition between us, who can be smelly the longest. LOL and my husband always win big time.

Sometimes Asif and I, do force ourselves to go have a Date Night and leave Ben with relatives to babysit (normally my youngest brother, Jeffrey). But the thing is, even when we're out on a date, we spend our supposedly romantic dinner time looking at Ben's photos and video on our phones or talking about Ben. It's all about Ben. On top of that, we get sleepy super early these days, so when we're out trying to paint the town red, we tend to be yawning a lot in between. So really, we should just stop pretending to have Date Night outside and just stay home, buy a bottle of wine and listen to LiteFM or watch Disney Junior with Ben (-_-).

Of all that, I am amazed how I am able to handle this motherhood pretty well. I guess once you're on that boat, there's no turning back and all you gotta do is just face it. I survived the first two years of being a mommy. (but not planning to get pregnant any time soon, that part still scare the shit out of me).

Being a mother is not easy but I am not saying it is awful...it's a mix of both world, doesn't matter what happens along the way motherhood is still a lot of fun. For me, looking back at my 2 years experience (ONLY), taking care of a baby is easy peasy BUT a TODDLER is another different level. I once thought it was hard having to wake up a lot at night feeding the baby and the fact that they have no body clock, they just wake up when they want and sleep when they want.

Back then, when Ben was less than 6 months old, I always say to myself I can't wait for Ben to be 6 m/o so I don't have to wake up a lot at night to feed him. But, when he was 6 months old, strangely I wish he's back to just having milk so I don't have to think about preparing food for him. LOL, and the wishes goes on and on.

I should end this blog because this Ben topic is like a telenovela. It's a long long long story I wish to write about once in while when I feel like it. Right now, I had the urge to write about my motherhood experience because for the past 2 days, Ben was sick with viral infection and the house is smelling like puke and poo and we ran out of clean towels last night. He's much better today and he haven't been this sick in a long time..it brings back memories to when he used to get sick a lot when he was a baby. Thank God it's over and he is a happy boy today.
